The Skating Club of Utica-Whitestown has been part of our community for over 35 years. Come skate with the Skating Club of Utica – Whitestown. All are welcome from beginner skaters to professional level skaters.
Archie S. Burton III
The Skating Club of Utica-Whitestown is very fortunate to have the only male Gold Dance Medalist in Central New York on their staff. Archie dances with skaters from the SC of Utica in addition to dance testers throughout the area. He welcomes new students and enjoys helping them attain their goals. Archie began coaching after a very successful amateur career in sectional and regional competition In addition to attaining the Gold Medal in Ice Dance, he also passed the seventh figure equivalent High Level Freestyle and Bronze Pair Skating tests. Archie has been a member of the internationally recognized Professional Skater Association since 1980. He is actively involved in the National conference each year and looks forward to gaining new knowledge to share with his students. Mr. Burton enjoys teaching first time skaters to the most advanced high level freestyle, field moves, and dance. He has been even known to work with developing hockey players who desire better skating skills. Archie’s most proud of his skaters’ advancement as well-balanced, healthy, goal oriented young adults. Archie will be teaching this spring and summer at many area facilities including Whitestown Community center. Archie has been in broadcast media in Utica/Rome since 1978. He has won national advertising awards and been nominated for numerous broadcasting awards over the course of more than 20 years. Archie writes the script, records and produces the music of the show and has choreographed many of the shows performances.
Angelina Sacco- Leone
Angelina Sacco- Leone has been a member of The Skating Club of Utica-Whitestown for 20 years. She has passed up to her Senior Freestyle and is Gold in her Moves in the Field. She has competed at many different competitions since the age of seven, her favorite being Empire State Games in Lake Placid. This year Angelina has been teaching basic skills, Sharper Image and has been giving private lessons.
After graduating in 2005 from Whitesboro High School, Angelina decided to join the PSA and begin coaching. Angelina went to school in Daytona Beach, Florida to become a Flight Attendant. She was then employed with US Airways for year until she decided change career paths. She attended Mohawk Valley Community College for Medical Assisting and graduated in August 2009. She now works as a Medical Assistant at Slocum Dickson in the Neurology department.
Outside the rink, Angelina enjoys working out, traveling, reading, and spending time with her family and friends. She also has been busy getting everything ready for the arrival of her new born in July. Angelina would like to thank all the parents and coaches for everything they have done this skating year especially Audrey for such an enjoyable Sharper Image year. Angelina wishes all the skaters the best of luck in this year’s ice show.
Erin Crowley has been a member of the Skating Club of Utica for the past 19 years. Erin is Gold in Moves in the Field, working on her Novice Freestyle, and she is also up to her Silver level tests in Ice Dance. She skated with the Sharper Image Synchronized Team for 7 years, and was an assistant with the learn-to-skate and pre-novice programs for 8 years prior to becoming a certified coach in group and private lessons. Erin is a member of the Ice Skating Institute and a member of the Professional Skaters Association.
Erin is a graduate of Notre Dame Jr./Sr. High School and Utica College. She received a Bachelor of Arts with honors in Mathematics and NY State Certification in Adolescent Education. She started her masters last year and is majoring in Leadership and Instruction for Inclusive Classrooms. Outside of skating Erin enjoys being a 7th grade math teacher at Central Valley Central School District and a cross country coach at Notre Dame.
Audrey Dorn has been a member of The Skating Club of Utica -Whitestown for over 20 years. She has passed up to Novice Level in Freestyle, Junior Level in Moves in The Field, 3rd Figures Test, and she is Gold in Ice Dancing. Audrey was a member of the Skating Club’s Synchro Team, The Sharper Image, for many years. She has also served on the Board of Directors for the Club in the past. Audrey is proud to be a member of the Professional Skating Association. Audrey is a coach for The Sharper Image Synchro Team. She is very proud of her skaters this year and is looking forward to many successful years with the team. Audrey has also coached Basic Skills for the club and is presently a Choreographer for the show. She takes special interest in Choreography.
Audrey holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from SUNY Oneonta and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education and K-12 Reading from Cortland State. Currently, Audrey is a 3rd grade teacher for the Utica City School District. She enjoys teaching, traveling, reading, and spending time with her family. She lives in Utica with her husband, Michael, their daughter, Alexandra, and twin sons, Michael and Matthew. She wishes luck to all the skaters in the club and would like to thank her coaches Regina and Archie for all their guidance and support through the years. Audrey is very happy to be on the coaching staff for the Skating Club of Utica-Whitestown.
Renee started her amateur skating at 2 years of age and attributes her accomplishments in Pair Skating, Ice Dance, and Figures to both Regina Burton and Archie Burton.
Renee was an original member of the Skating Club of Utica during the 1982/83 season. She began her coaching career in Cortland after graduating from College in Syracuse. She holds an Associates Degree in Early Education and is presently teaching preschool.
Renee directed a Basic Skills Learn to Skate Program at the Vermont Skating Academy in Essex, VT for 18 years. During this time, she created and choreographed ice shows in each of the 18 seasons. This program ranged from children 2 years of age and up to include adults, and skaters with special needs.
Renee was very fortunate and privileged to teach private lessons for many years where her students excelled at all disciplines of skating. She had skaters that participated in International Competitions, as well as New England Regional Competitions. Her skaters tested up to gold medal level in Freestyle, Moves in the Field, and Pre-Gold Dances.
